I confess!

A lament for lost sanity

To those who stand vigil, How far we have fallen when our defenders turn on those they have sworn to uphold. When a man, reeling from loss can find himself suspect, not of any great sin, but of losing himself to grief. Has the drive to live truly driven us to such extremity? What is my crime? If it is to wish to live when what I held most precious has been taken away, I confess it. If it is to cling to faith in a world of horror, I confess it. If it is to love my family, and go on for their sake, I confess it. I am a proud man, yet I am prepared to beg for the salvation of all I have left. If you swear before almighty God, that my daughters will be unharmed, then I will surrender without rancor. Otherwise, I will do all that that I can to escape your grasp. -Adalbert
